Initial concept

Current in-production

The original concept with our OG editor (from 2023)
This is one of my all time favorite projects. When I had just joined Captions I was pretty new to mobile video editors and quickly realized the primary objective, while designing a mobile video editor, was optimizing for previewing space (playback) and manual manipulation.
This concept explored what a "collapsable" state of the timeline could look like through a vertical drag gesture of the track itself. Resulting in these "laser lines" (which is what it's referred to internally), each color representing a different primitive of the track (e.g. sounds are pink, media items are lilac, etc). It's a quick way to collapse the track, not lose track of where edits are applied, and get a larger playback area.
Massive shoutout to Dan Moreno and Sebastian "Track Master" Cain on this project!
